Gold slips below $3400 amid tariff deadline

Gold futures traded just below $3400 per ounce on Tuesday, easing from a five-week high as markets stayed cautious ahead of President Trump's August 1 tariff deadline. A weaker US dollar, with the index hovering under 98 for a third session, lent some support to bullion and other dollar-priced assets. MCX August gold futures rebounded from an intraday low of ₹99,101 and hovered flat at ₹99,382 per 10 grams. Investors are awaiting key cues from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's speech later today, alongside next week's Fed policy decision. Meanwhile, the European Central Bank is set to hold rates steady at 2.0% this week after a series of cuts.
