Canara Bank faces Rs 1.49 lakh penalty from the Reserve Bank of India for remittance issues

Canara Bank is down 1.96% to Rs 129.37, paring recent gains of 1.79% over the last week. Canara Bank has disclosed that the Reserve Bank of India has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1,49,450.00 due to issues including CC Remittance Shortage of Rs 1,24,100.00, Mutilated Notes in CC Remittance amounting to Rs 23,350.00, and Counterfeit notes in CC Remittance of Rs 2,000.00, as informed to the Bombay Stock Exchange (Scrip Code: 532483) and the National Stock Exchange of India (Scrip Code: CANBK) on August 10, 2026, with the penalty impacting the bank’s financial activities to the extent of the stated amount. Canara Bank shares traded at a volume of 166.73 lakh today, a decrease of 8.29% from the one-week average volume. Canara Bank grew by 19.91% year-over-year, outperforming the NIFTY50 index's 0.1% loss.
